El Paso, TX – CREEED, a non-profit organization in El Paso exclusively focused on education, has welcomed two new members to its Board of Directors: Duane Murphy, president and founder of Gamer Logistics; and Renée Jiménez, president and CEO of MNK Architects. The addition of their unique perspectives on the board will help CREEED advance its mission of proactively working across all nine independent school districts, the charter sector, and local higher education systems to increase educational attainment for all students in the El Paso region.
Murphy began his board position with CREEED in 2021. He is the president and founder of Gamer Logistics, a trucking and logistical services company that has serviced the maquila industry in Mexico for almost 20 years. He currently sits on the Capital Improvements Advisory Committee for the City of El Paso and has a special interest in supporting initiatives that promote a quality education for all children in El Paso and surrounding communities. He has also participated in the El Paso Accelerate program in conjunction with the Aspen Institute’s Latinos & Society Program as a Steering Committee member. Murphy is a graduate of Texas A&M University.
“Throughout my years working in the El Paso region, I have developed a strong connection to this community, and I am eager to support initiatives that improve the overall well-being of our residents – including their education experiences,” said Murphy. “As a business leader, I am proud to help CREEED improve the education system in the Borderplex and contribute to making our economy and workforce more competitive today and into the future.”
Jiménez is the president and CEO of MNK Architects. She has been at MNK since 2005 and is a licensed architect in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Her portfolio includes several projects for the City of El Paso, UTEP, El Paso Community College, and school districts throughout the city. She currently sits on the board of directors for the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce and for Community en Accion. Jiménez is also a graduate of Texas A&M University.
“As an architect, I find inspiration in the positive reactions people have when they experience the spaces I create – and many of these spaces have been schools. Building quality, welcoming spaces where students can learn and further their education is very important to me,” said Jiménez. “I am honored to join CREEED’s board of directors and contribute my perspective not only as a businesswoman in the region, but as someone who has spent time thinking about what students need to succeed.”
In addition to helping high-performing El Paso students pursue and obtain a college degree, CREEED also supports public school district initiatives that prepare all students to be college and career-ready by the time they graduate high school, including the expansion of dual credit courses, STEM programming, and teacher development programs.
“We are thrilled to have such accomplished community leaders join our board of directors and help us to fulfill our mission,” said Richard A. Castro, CREEED Board Chair. “Both Duane and Renée bring unique experiences and points of view to our work. I am confident they will help us strengthen our commitment to students and educators in our region.”
